Even though cell phones have been around the block a few times, the wide adaptation of the smartphone is a relatively new phenomenon. Having a device in each pocket that is constantly connected to the web and to higher order software provides a unique advantage for events to connect to the attendees. Using smart software a smartphone can become a roadmap for entire event, giving users instant access to information and giving organizers an easy way to distribute information AND collect important data from those users. In addition it eliminates the hassle of printing, correcting, and reprinting conference information packets which nobody seriously reads anyway. These are just the basics, the smartphone can do much more to connect people at the event and even people who aren’t. Using videos, photos, social networking, navigation, and location based services organizers have a unique and constant path to stay in touch with their attendees. The smartphone is reshaping the event experience.
